Summer Volunteers Needed Now!

Following is a message from Ernestina’s volunteer coordinator:

Hello,
My name is Elizabeth Laver Kacergis. I am the 2012 Seasonal Interpreter for the Schooner Ernestina.

Many of you have worked, volunteered or attended programs on the Ernestina in the past and are therefore familiar with the excellent caliber of programming. I am “standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before,” using activities developed when the Ernestina sailed to jump-start the 2012 programs and activities.

For those of you interested in volunteering for educational outreach and shipboard activities, I need volunteer assistance and am asking for, “all hands on deck,” in order to implement them.

I am asking for volunteers, 18 years of age or older, for the rest of the summer in order to pack the remainder of July and all of August as full as the calendar, daylight and volunteer turnout will allow. I already have several programs scheduled as a dockside location that I would like to bring on board the Ernestina. I would also like to institute regular open boat hours in conjunction with the walking waterfront tours I am already team teaching with the National Park Service every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm.

We will be holding safety training for volunteers who want to work on the boat as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact me via phone or email. The cell phone ringer is very soft and students and the waterfront activities can be very loud. If I do not pick up immediately, I may not hear you or be in the middle of a program. Please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Thank you for all your help and any summer volunteer assistance you can give me.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth
