About

A National Treasure

As Effie M. Morrissey, she was hard on the rocks off the coast of Greenland and she sailed again.   She was sunk to the bottom of New York Harbor and she sailed again.  As Ernestina she was dismasted in the Atlantic Ocean and she sailed again.  People of vision saw this ship’s worth and worked together.  By working together now we can see that Ernestina sails again and serves the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as she has in the past.

Schooner Ernestina-Morrissey Association was formed to support Ernestina. SEMA will use this website to provide access to information about Ernestina’s history and to provide new information about the ongoing efforts to ensure the future of this National Treasure.
