Sheer is a term to describe the curve of a vessel’s main deck. You can see in this photo of Ernestina-Morrissey in the Canal on the way to BHS in April 2015 how flat the line of her stern is. By reconstructing the stern of the boat she now had the traditional sheer of an 1894 Essex schooner.
